Backups

Backups protect Cell data from accidental deletion, failed upgrades and infrastructure loss.

Before risky changes

Create a backup before major server updates, modpack changes, migrations or destructive configuration work.

Storage strategy

Important backups should ultimately exist outside the same physical storage that holds the live Cell data.

Restore testing

Periodically test restoration. A backup job completing successfully does not prove the resulting archive can be restored into a working server.
